The first self-stacking belt is the easy part to judge. You test it, it stacks, you approve it. The harder question comes two or five years later: will the next belt be the same?
We keep repeat self-stacking belt orders the same by building every reorder to the approved drawing of the previous order, quoting that order on the new production order, checking incoming wire and rod in every batch, measuring the same parameters again, inspecting every finished belt before packing, and testing every self-stacking belt order on a drum before shipment.

I am Sunny Ye, Global Sales Director at YIYI Mesh Belt (Ningjin Yiyi Mesh Belt Co., Ltd.). Many of our self-stacking belt customers come back for a second, third or tenth belt. Here is what we do in our factory in Ningjin so that each one matches the last.

What does "the same belt" mean on a reorder?
"Same" is not a feeling. It is a list of numbers and decisions.
For a self-stacking belt, "the same" means the same spiral pitch, rod pitch, rod diameter, wire diameter, side guard height and thickness, belt width, rotation direction, edge construction, surface finish and marking as the approved previous order. If any of these change, the belt may not stack with the belt already on your spiral.
| Item | Where it is fixed | Why it matters on a reorder |
|---|---|---|
| Spiral pitch, rod pitch, rod and wire diameter | Approved drawing | The mesh must match the belt already running |
| Side guard height and thickness | Approved drawing | The stack depends on the side guards seating tier on tier |
| Rotation direction and collapsible side | Approved drawing | A belt built for the other direction will not run on your spiral |
| Edge construction and wire end finish | Approved drawing and sample photos | Edges must look and connect like the previous belt |
| Surface finish | Order: pickling or electropolishing | A different finish changes how the belt looks next to the old one |
| Marking on the side guards | Order, with first-piece photo | Some customers mark their side plates; the marking has to match |
| Packing method | Order | A known packing method arrives in a known condition |
How does a reorder start in our factory?
A reorder does not start from a blank page. It starts from the last order.
When you reorder, our production order quotes the previous order and its approved drawing, and states that the new belt must keep the same data. Where time has passed since the last order, or where you ask for it, we build a trial section first and send it for your confirmation before full production.
One customer in New Zealand (Oceania) first ordered from us in 2017, working from their sample. When they came back in 2023, the 2023 production order referred to that 2017 order. We built a trial section for the customer to confirm before producing the full 100 m. Their later orders each refer to the order before.
| Step | What we do | Who confirms |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Find the previous order | Pull the approved drawing, revision and inspection records | YIYI sales and engineering |
| 2. Confirm nothing has changed | Check with you whether width, length, equipment or finish have changed | Buyer |
| 3. Write the production order | Quote the previous order and state "same data" | YIYI engineering |
| 4. Trial section (where needed) | Build and inspect a short section; send photos or the piece | Buyer |
| 5. Full length | Build to the confirmed data; inspect; drum test; pack | YIYI production and quality control |
How do we keep the material the same?
A belt can match the drawing and still look different if the material changes.
We draw our own stainless steel wire and round bar, and every incoming batch of raw material is checked for composition and hardness. The wire diameter, rod diameter and material grade are taken from the approved drawing of the previous order, not chosen again.
On a 2025 order for a customer in Spain (Europe), the production order went further: the side links had to come from one batch of material, so the colour stayed even after pickling; the composition check of the wire, rods and links was recorded on video; and the trial section was compared with the customer's sample in photos and in a stacking test before batch production.

Which measurements do we repeat on every order?
We do not assume the new belt is right because the drawing is right. We measure it.
On every repeat order we measure the same parameters as on the first order: spiral pitch, rod pitch, rod diameter, wire diameter, side guard height and thickness, and belt width. We photograph the readings, so you can compare them with the previous order.
These are readings from our inspection photos for the same customer in New Zealand, on the 660 mm belt ordered in 2023 and again in 2025:
| Parameter | Drawing (mm) | 2023 order reading (mm) | 2025 order reading (mm) | Inch (in), rounded |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rod pitch | 30 | 30.00 | 30.00 | 1.18 |
| Side guard thickness | 1.5 | 1.50 | 1.50 | 0.06 |
| Wire diameter | 1.6 | 1.60 | 1.61 | 0.06 |
Acceptance dimensions and tolerances are agreed on the approved drawing for each project. Millimetres are the working unit; inch values are rounded references.
What happens before a repeat belt ships?
A reorder gets the same final checks as a first order. Familiar customers do not get fewer checks.
Every finished belt is inspected before packing, and every self-stacking belt order is tested on a drum before shipment. Before the cases are closed, we record the net weight, gross weight and volume, and pack the belt in wooden cases the same way as the previous order.
Packing is part of "the same", too. In 2026, at the request of our customer in Spain, we changed how the belt is laid in the case: the collapsible link side now goes to the same side throughout, with the layers nested together. That method is now written into their production orders, so every later shipment is packed the same way.

Which records make a reorder possible?
A reorder is only as good as the records behind it.
For each self-stacking belt order we keep the approved drawing and its revision, material and production records, inspection records and photographs, and your confirmations. When you reorder, these records tell us exactly what we built last time.
| Record | Purpose for the buyer |
|---|---|
| Approved drawing and revision | Keeps the agreed specification for manufacture and reorders |
| Material and production records | Support order traceability and review of manufacturing history |
| Inspection records and photographs | Let you compare recorded checks with the agreed requirements |
| Customer confirmations | Keep technical decisions and approved changes |
You can see the photos of each production and inspection step in our Self-Stacking Belt Production and Quality Control document.
Two Repeat-Order Projects
New Zealand (Oceania): two widths, reordered since 2017
| Year | Belt width (mm) | Side guard height (mm) | Length (m) | Built to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 660 | 80 | 100 | Data of the 2017 order; trial section confirmed first |
| 2024 | 660 | 80 | 100 | Data of the 2023 order |
| 2024 | 420 | 60 | 100 | Data of the 2018 order; trial section confirmed first |
| 2025 | 660 | 80 | 150 | Data of the 2024 order; trial section confirmed first |
| 2025 | 420 | 60 | 100 | Data of the previous 420 mm order |
Both widths are SUS304 with 1.6 mm wire, 5 mm rods and a 30 mm rod pitch. From the end of 2024, the orders also included an extra 0.5 m unwelded section.
Spain (Europe): from a 50 m first order to repeat orders in two widths
| Year | Belt width (mm) | Side guard height (mm) | Length (m) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 420 | 60 | 50 | First order, made to the customer's sample after sample sections were approved |
| 2024 | 420 | 60 | 315 + 230 | Two repeat orders to the same data |
| 2024 | 760 | 80 | 10 | Test order for a second width, made to sample |
| 2025 | 420 | 60 | 50 + 100 | Engraved first pieces photographed and confirmed before batch production |
| 2025 | 760 | 80 | 500 + 50 | Same-batch link material; trial section compared with the sample |
| 2026 | 420 | 60 | 230 | Electropolished |
| 2026 | 760 | 80 | 100 | Electropolished |
Both widths are SUS304 with 1.7 mm wire, a 9 mm spiral pitch, 5 mm rods and a 30 mm rod pitch. In total, about 1,635 m from 2023 to mid-2026.
When This Is Not the Right Choice
Building to the last order is right only if nothing else has changed. If your spiral has been modified, if you are adding a new line, or if the belt now runs in a different application, we confirm the data again before we quote, and it may need a new drawing. If your previous belt came from another supplier, we start from your sample instead: see how we make a self-stacking belt to your sample. And a worn belt is not a good reference for a reorder, because it shows wear, not the size we built.
From Our Engineering Experience
When a customer says "same as last time", I always ask one question back: "Has anything changed on your side?" Usually the answer is no, and then the old drawing and the old order number do most of the work. When the answer is yes, a new motor, a longer line, a different product, that is exactly the moment to say so, before we cut any wire. The smoothest reorders I see are the ones where the buyer also keeps a short piece of the last belt. It gives both of us something to hold next to the new one.
FAQ
Can you make my next self-stacking belt the same as my last one?
Yes, if we built the last one. We build the reorder to the approved drawing and data of the previous order, and the new production order quotes that order.
Do you make a trial section on a repeat order?
Where time has passed since the last order, or where you ask for it, we build a trial section first and send it for your confirmation before full production.
How do you keep the material the same between orders?
We draw our own stainless steel wire and round bar, check every incoming batch for composition and hardness, and take the wire, rod and material grade from the approved drawing of the previous order. Where colour matters, the order can ask for side links from one batch of material.
What do you check before a repeat belt ships?
Every finished belt is inspected before packing, and every self-stacking belt order is tested on a drum before shipment. We record weights and volume and pack it the same way as the previous order.
What if my equipment has changed since the last order?
Tell us before we quote. We confirm the data again, and the belt may need a new drawing instead of a repeat of the old one.
Conclusion
A repeat self-stacking belt stays the same because the data is fixed, the material is checked, the same measurements are repeated and the records are kept. Start every reorder from the last approved order, and tell us what has changed.
